Recently, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the results of the Civil Services Exam 2022. In this examination, 23-year-old Divya Tanwar, who hails from Haryana, secured the 105th rank. It was her second attempt in the UPSC CSE, as in her first attempt she achieved Rank 438. Divya Tanwar’s optional subject for the examination was Hindi literature.
Divya Tanwar hails from Nimbi, Mahendragarh, Haryana. Unfortunately, her father passed away in 2011 due to a heart attack. To support the family, her mother cooks food in a school. Divya’s remarkable achievement of cracking the UPSC exam, coming from a small village, has garnered widespread applause and admiration from people. Her success is seen as a testament to her determination and hard work.
She has brought great pride to the district by successfully passing the UPSC exam. Divya, who is a resident of the village Nimbi, comes from a humble family background. After completing her primary education at the Manu School in Nimbi, she secured admission to Navodaya from the same school.

IAS Divya Tanwar Strategy For UPSC
After achieving an All India Rank of 105 in the UPSC exam at such a young age, Divya has garnered significant attention on the internet. She utilized resources such as YouTube and preferred books to prepare for the IAS exam. Divya also visited various institutes to participate in mock interviews, further enhancing her preparation.
Divya mentioned that she initially studied for 7 to 8 hours a day, but as the prelims and mains approached, she increased her study hours to 11 to 12 hours daily. She emphasized that she did not receive any coaching for the UPSC exam and relied solely on self-study to succeed in the examination.
“Set a goal in your life and work on it continuously. Problems will definitely arise along the way, but it’s important to be patient and persevere with hard work. With the same dedication that I have shown, any child can achieve their dreams,” Divya stated.
After completing her 12th examination from Navodaya Vidyalaya, Divya pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from Government Women’s College while simultaneously preparing for the UPSC exam. Divya comes from a financially disadvantaged family and her younger siblings. As a result, her younger brother and sister receive free education to support their academic pursuits.
Prelims Strategy
While giving an interview with Drishti, she said, “For prelims, you should revise what you have read again and again, further she told that for optional, “I had read only Vikas Divyakirti sir’s notes. Apart from this, I had added some examples.”
