Nitnem is a collection of Sikh hymns to be read minimally 3 different times of the day. These are mandatory and to be read by every Amritdhari Sikh as expressed in the Sikh Rehat Maryada. Optionally additional prayers may be added to a Sikh’s nitnem.

Nitnem Daily Sikhs Prayer
The scripture of the Sikhs is in verse. It was first compiled by the fifth Guru of the Sikhs, Arjun Dev and written by his brother Gurdas in Amritsar. This Harimandir Sahib was established in the sanctum sanctorum of Amritsar Punjab, India which was highly revered. Its second version, Guru Gobind Singh, after the martyrdom of his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur, was scribed by Bhai Mani Singh at Damdama Sahib near Bathinda.
The regular prayer of the Sikhs consists of three scriptures for the morning, one for the evening, and one for the night. They have different Sikh Gurus. The beauty of the scriptures is the originality of these. It is direct, these are first-hand, direct from the Gurus, and absolutely free from any additions. Even the spellings are original.
Nitnem purifies the mind and leads to a moral life, and creates an instrument of good deeds. The soul rises up from the understanding of the truth, that the Lord is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, creator, doer, supporter-provider, and there is no one like Him. Everything is subject to His will. He has made everyone equal. This liberates the Man while still living, and enables him to enjoy heaven on earth.
