In this month, the deity is appeased by performing religious activities like kirtans and bhajans in temples. The lamp should be lit in the temples themselves, charity should be done.
It is believed that whoever sleeps on the ground in the month of Kartik, all his sins are destroyed. And if a person takes bath in the Ganges at the time of Arunodaya, then he washes away the sins of all births.
